The Big Sleep Out for St Paul's Night Shelter, Bournemouth - Completed!

THE BIG SLEEP OUT - WE DID IT!

3 brave ladies modelling TwoToo scarvesApprox 15 of us braved the elements on Friday night, 7th Sept 2012, in support of BCHA, the Bournemouth based charity for homeless people, who organised a Big Sleep Out to raise money for their St Paul's Night Shelter which is 10 years old this year. TwoToo donated scarves to the night shelter residents last Winter.

TwoToo's Steve Bamford joining in the occasion and so far has raised just over £500 sponsorship in support of the cause. The current total from all involved is approx £3000 so far.

Not much sleep was had as they were sleeping out in the car park of BCHA, the charity that runs St Paul's Night Shelter, and they were very close to a busy road and pavement near the centre of Bournemouth. They all felt quite vulnerable as they settled down and felt something of the reality that homeless people can face. The night was dry and not too cold but fog came down around 4am and their beds were quite damp with dew by the time they got up.

ST PAUL'S NIGHT SHELTER

St Paul's has 40 beds and helps around 500 people a year, the majority of which are from the local Bournemouth area. Approx 85% of the residents are men. The residents with local connections can stay for up to 3 months. In that time they are helped to find more suitable long term accommodation as well as help to find a job and/or further education.

If you would like to volunteer to help at St Paul's Night Shelter you can contact Will on 01202 587160.
